VI. RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF FUNDS, THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN ESCROW ACCOUNT WITH RESPECT TO AND THE DEFEASANCE OF CERTAIN OF THE GENERAL OBLIGATION SCHOOL BUILDING BONDS, SERIES 2015A, DATED AUGUST 4, 2015 (Action Requested)
Description:
Estimated Time to Present (not including Board dialog): 5 minutes
Six months ago (10/26/20) the Board approved a tax levy for the 2020-21 fiscal year that included approximately $12.5 million applied to previously issued callable debt in a strategy known as debt defeasance. This strategy reduces approximately $1,900,000 in interest costs while offering greater flexibility in future debt management as well as referendum planning. The second and final step in this process is to formally approve the establishment of an escrow account for the purposes of defeasance of certain general obligation bonds and transfer of funds into this account. Administration requests that this formal action take place at the March 8 Board of Education meeting.

VII. School Forest Fiber Project Funding Approval (Action Requested)
Description:
Director of Technology, Jon Euting, will present a plan for constructing a Fiber-Optic Lateral between South Mountain Elementary School and the Wausau School District School Forest. The large number of submitted bids for performing this work resulted in a highly competitive process both in terms of cost and quality of construction. The selected vendor submitted the lowest cost and has completed other projects for the District with a very high degree of satisfaction. This project will provide the School Forest a 1 Gig connection to South Mountain which in turn will allow for complete integration into the Wausau School District Network and Infrastructure. Funding for this project is through savings specifically designated from sale of various District real estate and timber sales over the past five years with intentions to apply these funds to School Forest improvements.
