1. The Board President will lead the Board in the Pledge of Allegiance as follows:

2. Invitation to speak to an agenda or non-agenda item.
The Board of Education meets and conducts school business in public. The public is invited to watch and listen to the Board of Education deliberate and vote on the agenda items scheduled for action and discussion. Although the Board of Education meets in public, this is not a meeting for the public to participate. It is a meeting for the seven (7) members of the Board of Education to conduct the business of the school district. As an important part of each meeting, the public is invited to address the Board of Education at this time. This portion of the meeting shall be limited to thirty (30) minutes unless extended by a vote of the Board. This is the only time the public will have to speak to Board members during the meeting. Please follow the requested process if you intend to address the Board. |

14. New Position - Middle School Math Teacher

Description:
This teaching position is needed in part because of the large incoming 7th grade group in 2024-25, but also in large part because we lost a middle school math teacher last year when this individual was hired for our instructional coaching position. The district did not fill the vacated math position at that time, but now has a need for it, which will make scheduling much easier for 2024-25. This received support from the Finance & Personnel Committee.

15. High School Math Teaching Position

Description:
We have a high school math teacher that will be undergoing surgery early next Fall and not returning before retiring at the end of the first semester next year. Instead of waiting to post this position later in the summer or early next school year, I am asking the Board to allow the district to post this position immediately to find the best possible candidate to begin with us for the 2024-25 school year.
This received strong support from the Finance & Personnel Committee. |
16. Network Refresh Bids

The Finance & Personnel Committee supported the Superintendent's recommendation to go with Moss for this project.
Bids from four vendors are below. Vector - $231,560.50 Heartland Business Systems - $218,991.60 Moss - $233,013.07 Hi-Tech - $193,366.37 FCSD is receiving special ERATE money/discounts and are only required to pay 40% of the price quoted above, which amounts to $93,205.23. This was a budget item for 2024-25 and will be paid for through our General Fund. |
17. Elementary Kitchen Project

Nutrition services is looking to revitalize the Elementary School kitchen and improve the flow of lunch traffic. TSSF was the selected architect last June and have since bid out the job. Bids amounts from four companies are below, with interviews taking place on March 20, 2024, with Wobig Construction and Three Rivers Corporation. Additionally, a quote for kitchen equipment is attached at a price of $317,934.03.

21. Social Media Litigation - Update

Description:
FCSD has until May 1, 2024, to decide whether to join litigation against social media platforms for their intentional targeting of minors to maximize profits. Attached are some examples from Ms. Smith regarding the impact social media platforms, such as TikTok and Facebook, have had on our students and administration.
If the Board would like to learn about this litigation, Thrun Law Firm is willing to do a presentation (virtually) to more thoroughly explain all of this. I will be looking for direction from the Board regarding next steps. |
22. May Bond Election Discussion
