XIII. Discussion/Action: Call School Board Election and appoint officials.

Description:
Recommendation: The school board election needs to be set and officials appointed to conduct the election on May 5, 2018. The election will be for position #6 (Kevin Bush), and position #7 (Charles McShan). Candidates should file with Rhonda Brewer at Elkhart I.S.D. Administration office. Filing begins January 17, 2018 and ends February 16, 2018. Rhonda Brewer will serve as Early Voting Clerk and Rachell Glenn will serve as Deputy Voting Clerk (Rachell Glenn will serve only in the event Mrs. Brewer is absent). We will the Election Judge to select up to five clerks. Early voting will be held in the Elkhart I.S.D. Administration office from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning Monday, April 23, 2018, through Tuesday, May 1, 2018, by personal appearance. January 1, 2018 will be the first day for accepting applications for early voting ballots to be voted by mail. The appointed Election Judge, Alternate Judge, and Clerks will count the early voting ballots on May 5, 2018. The election on May 5, 2018 will be held at the Elkhart First Baptist Church.

Each year we are required to announce at the last board meeting of the year the board members hours and whether they have met the requirements or not. Next year the policy changes and these hours will be announced at the meeting before school board elections are held.
