BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Rick Sansted will share with the board the "206 Points of Pride." The persons being recognized this month are as follows: Elementary Spelling Bees were held throughout the month of March. Grade level champions and runners up by school are:
10 DMS Math Team students competed at the Mathcounts Chapter Competition. The team of Brandon Malo, Joni Vanderheiden, PJ Vanderheiden and Michael Zhang advanced to the State competition, where they finished 17th overall. Individually, Ben Kolb qualified for the State competition, finishing 80th out of 131 students. Ning Zhang and Brody Adelman have been selected as this year’s ExCEL Award recipients for Alexandria Area High School. This award honors high school juniors who display excellence in community, education and leadership. The AAHS Math Team 9th-10th Team placed 1st at the Tri-College Competition at Moorhead State. Individually, Alex Rodriguez took 1st place, Joshua Makalinao took 2nd and Levi Preston took 4th. Marianna Peterson-Green took home 6th place out of 30 students at the MN State Brain Bee. Aven Schonberg and Libby Ehlert also place in the top 30. DECA students competed at the Minnesota State Career Development Conference with 48 students qualifying for ICDC competition. Results include:
Five middle school students were selected to participate in the Minnesota Band Director’s Association NW Region (NWMBDA) First/Second Year Honor Band this year. First year band students Daria Meinert, C.C. Hodges and Brayden Bjerke, as well as second year band students Alexis Dean and Bradley Travis will play with other students from the region on Saturday, April 26th at Horizon Middle School in Moorhead. Vocal Solo/Ensemble competition was held in February. Many AAHS students earned a Superior Rating:
Nolan Fettig took 1st place in his weight class at the Section Wrestling Tournament, while Landon Day took 2nd in his weight class. Both went on to participate in the State Wrestling Tournament. Molly Arola was named Section 8AA Girls Hockey Head Coach of the Year, while Jeff Doherty was named Section 8AA Girls Hockey Assistant Coach of the Year. The Boys Swim & Dive Team claimed the spot of Section 5A Swim & Dive Champions and went on to place 5th overall at the State Meet. Individually, Cooper Running was named Section 5A Swimmer of the Year, Kyler Kavanagh was named Section 5A Diver of the Year and many of the team’s participants qualified for State. State Meet results include:
Section Diving Coach of the Year was awarded to Aaron Rooney, while Kathy Walker earned the title of Section Swimming Coach of the Year. Boys Hockey Captain Niklas Schultz was selected for the Minnesota Wild Captain Spotlight. The Girls Basketball Team won the title of Section 8AAA Champions and went on to compete at the State Tournament. Hadley Thul has been named a candidate for MN Miss Basketball and was selected to the All State Team by the MN Girls Basketball Coaches Association. MaCee Linow, Allie Haabala and Chloe Scholl received an Honorable Mention selection to the All State Team. Hadley Thul, Allie Haabala and Chloe Scholl also received Academic All State honors. |

As per district policy, the board is required to approve the submission and acceptance of donations and grants to the district that exceed $1,000. RECOMMENDATION: The administration recommends the school board approve the attached resolution accepting grants and donations to the school district. |

IV.I. AWARD BIDS FOR PRIME VENDOR SERVICES

Janeen Peterson, Food & Nutrition Services Director, received one bid for Prime Vendor contract and services for Alexandria Public Schools’ Food & Nutrition Services programs for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 school years with the option to roll over the contract for three one-year renewals. RECOMMENDATION: The administration recommends awarding the contract for Prime Vendor Services to Sysco Western, the only bidder, for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 school years with the option to renew for three one-year increments. |
