Description:
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Rick Sansted will share with the board the "206 Points of Pride." The persons being recognized this month are: Coach Mike Empting was named Minnesota Vikings High School Coach of the Week in late October. Coaches are chosen each week based on their contribution on the football field, as well as the impact they make within their community and for their student-athletes. The Girls Cross Country Team earned the title of Section Champions and placed 3rd at the State Meet. Individually, Citori Halbe placed 2nd at Sections and took 6th at the State Meet, Jaelyn Miller placed 4th at Sections and participated in the State Meet and Quinn Hills 7th at Sections and participated in the State Meet. Other State participants include Anna Korynta, Bobbi Nichols, Kasey Soderholm and Brynn Cross. Tom Wilmesmeier placed 5th at the Boys Cross Country Section Meet and went on to participate in the State Cross Country Meet. |

V.C. ALEXANDRIA POLICE DEPARTMENT AGREEMENT

INFORMATION:
During the 2023 Minnesota Legislative Session, Minnesota Statutes sections 121A.58 (Corporal Punishment) and 121A.582 (Student Discipline; Reasonable Force) were amended to restrict a School Resource Officer’s use of force in schools. The School Resource Officer program was suspended pending further clarification. Alexandria Police Department will continue a working relationship with Alexandria Public Schools. No formal action is expected. |

VI.A. ACCEPT WORLD'S BEST WORKFORCE REPORT SUMMARY

Darcy Josephson will provide an overview of the 2022-2023 World’s Best Workforce Report Summary. Under Minnesota Statutes, section 120B.11, school districts are to develop a World’s Best Workforce Annual Report and report summary for each school year. RECOMMENDATION: The administration recommends the board accept the 2022-2023 World’s Best Workforce Report Summary as presented. |
VI.B. APPROVE FIRST READING OF 2024-2025 CURRICULUM AND PROGRAM MODIFICATIONS

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Darcy Josephson will provide an overview of the curriculum and program modifications being proposed at the Alexandria Area High School for the 2024-2025 school year. These modifications were developed and are being presented per district policy. The Curriculum/Policy Committee has reviewed and approved these changes. RECOMMENDATION: The administration recommends the board approve the first reading of modifications and course changes as presented. |
VI.C. APPROVE 2022-2023 DISTRICT FINANCIAL AUDIT

VI.D. ADOPT RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING COMBINED POLLING PLACES

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
New legislation adopted in 2017 requires school districts to establish combined polling places annually by December 31. Amendments to Minnesota Statutes Section 205A.11 require school boards to annually designate, by resolution, combined polling places for stand-alone school district elections held in the following calendar year. The locations of these combined polling places have also been limited to those locations designated for use as a polling place by a county or a municipality. RECOMMENDATION: The administration recommends the board adopt the resolution combining polling places for multiple precincts and designating hours during which the polling places will remain open for voting for school district elections not held on the day of the statewide election. |
