Description:
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Rick Sansted will share with the board the "206 Points of Pride." The persons being recognized this month are: Jeff Doherty has been named Girls Hockey Section 8AA Assistant Coach of the Year. The Girls Hockey Team has earned the title of 2022-23 Central Lakes Conference Champions. The Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association named the Alexandria Wrestling Team the Class AA Academic Team State Champions. The top ten GPAs average 3.88, which was the highest in Class AA. Nolan Fettig, Mason McGrane and Blaze Nelson all earned a trip to the Minnesota State Wrestling Tournament, where Blaze Nelson placed 6th, was named All-State and now holds the #2 spot for the all-time win record in Cardinal wrestling history with 147 wins. Culinary Arts students Rigoberto Clarke, Quintyn Gartner, Charlotte Lempka, Kaedin Moos, Brennan Staples and Naneisha Vargas passed their National Certification for Food Safety test and received their Servsafe Certification. Robotics Team 3313 was given an award from the Great Northern Regional Planning Committee for displaying Gracious Professionalism in an unprecedented turn of events. Five teams were required by their schools to leave halfway through a regional competition due to blizzard warnings and Team 3313 stepped up to drive another team’s robot to help them remain in the competition and complete the tournament. Aaron Rooney was named Section 6A Boys Diving Coach of the Year. The Boys Swimming & Diving Team received the Silver Award for having a team GPA of 3.5. Individually, the following members of the Boys Swimming & Diving Team took home the title of Section Champion and earned a trip to the state tournament:
The Girls Basketball Team earned the title of Section 8AAA Champions and a trip to the state tournament. The Boys Hockey Team took the title of Section 6A Champions and earned a trip to the state tournament. DECA students competed at the Minnesota State Career Development Conference, with 63 individual finalists and many of those students qualifying for the ICDC Competition. Individual finalists include:
