Description:
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Rick Sansted will share with the board the "206 Points of Pride." The persons being recognized this month are: 3133 Mechatronics received the Excellence in Engineering Award at the Northern Minnesota Robotics Conference. Team member Sarah Fuchs was awarded the Team Member of the Year Award at the same conference. Many of our fall athletic teams took the title of Central Lakes Conference champions this season, including Middle School Boys Cross Country, Middle School Girls Cross Country, Varsity Girls Cross Country, Volleyball and Girls Swimming and Diving (first time in 23 years). Our Girls Soccer Team earned the Central Lakes Conference Sportsmanship Award, grabbed the title of Section Champions and competed at the state tournament. The Football Team also earned the title of Section Champions and competed in the state tournament. Other state tournament participants included the Girls Cross Country Team and two individual participants from the Boys Cross Country Team - Landon Runge and Joel Brault. We also had a number All State Athletes this season. From Girls Soccer: Kylee James and Ella Westlund. From Boys Soccer: Colin Reilly, Ryan Meuwissen and Thomas Klecker. Wyatt Odland was selected to the Minnesota Football Coaches Association Class 5A Academic All-State Team based on both academic and football successes. Kristen Hoskins has been named a Mr. Football Nominee, recognizing Minnesota’s best high school football players. He was also named Offensive Player of the Year and Special Team Player of the Year in the North Central Red District. Girls Soccer Coach, Tom Roos was named Section 8AA Head Coach of the Year, while Brandon Johnson was named Section 8AA Head Coach of the Year for Boys Soccer. Mike Empting received the title of 2021 North Central Red District Head Coach of the Year. |

VII.A. ACCEPT WORLD'S BEST WORKFORCE REPORT SUMMARY

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Darcy Josephson will provide an overview of the 2020-2021 World’s Best Workforce Report Summary. Under Minnesota Statutes, section 120B.11, school districts are to develop a World’s Best Workforce Annual Report and report summary for each school year. RECOMMENDATION: The administration recommends the board accept the 2020-2021 World’s Best Workforce Report Summary as presented. |

VII.B. APPROVE FIRST READING OF 2021-2022 CURRICULUM AND PROGRAM MODIFICATIONS

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Darcy Josephson will provide an overview of the curriculum and program modifications being proposed at the Alexandria Area High School for the 2022-2023 school year. These modifications were developed and are being presented per district policy. The Curriculum/Policy Committee has reviewed and approved these changes. RECOMMENDATION: The administration recommends the board approve the first reading of modifications and course changes as presented. |

VII.C. ADOPT RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING COMBINED POLLING PLACES

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
New legislation adopted in 2017 requires school districts to establish combined polling places annually by December 31. Amendments to Minnesota Statutes Section 205A.11 require school boards to annually designate, by resolution, combined polling places for stand-alone school district elections held in the following calendar year. The locations of these combined polling places have also been limited to those locations designated for use as a polling place by a county or a municipality. RECOMMENDATION: The administration recommends the board adopt the resolution combining polling places for multiple precincts and designating hours during which the polling places will remain open for voting for school district elections not held on the day of the statewide election. |
