Literacy Coach

MARESA has applied for funds available through MDE for ISD Literacy Coach

Literacy (K-3 Institute, September 24-27)

Thank you for supporting literacy leaders in your building by allowing them to attend multi-day Essentials Training with Leaders from across the state. We had several committed participant/leaders.

Literacy Grade Level Networks

Thank you for supporting your teachers and providing the time to delve deeply into literacy issues literacy by grade.

Superintendents, please talk with your teachers who have attended the MARESA Literacy Network Grade level meetings. Ask them if the time was well spent and the meetings were of value.  Kristen looks forward to the subsequent opportunities to meet with them by grade level this year.

Kindergarten: 10/1, 11/27, and 2/6

1st: 10/2, 11/28, and 2/7

2nd: 10/16, 11/29, and 2/26

3rd: 10/23, 12/03, and 2/27

4th: 10/25, 12/04, and 3/13

Odysseyware

Many of you are familiar with OW as a content supplier (equivalent to a textbook/video etc), but OW also has Teacher Led (MI Certified) Online courses that compare to MVU's courses. There is a price difference of at least $60.00 per course favoring OW and OW has a rolling enrollment window.

New DATA HUB site

NWEA

The updated list from NWEA indicates that 661 of 900 districts use these assessments. Assessment data can flow to MiDataHub on an automated, weekly basis. Currently, about 100 districts are configured to receive NWEA data as an “Inbound Integration” in the cockpit application.

Fall Conference, October 2019 (Friday, October 11?)

This would be the year for a fall conference/reading conference and offers the added twist of being the newly designated window of the UP Special Education Conference.

With Literacy and Special Education being two areas of such intensive and important focus along with the opportunity to convene content area teachers to address areas and topics of significance to them- how might we best address that day? 

Will you designate it a PD day?
