K-12 ELA & Continuous Improvement Coordinator (Presenter: Shana Murphy)
Description:
These 2 positions will be funded through our 23g Grant (The MI Kids Back on Track grant funds) and be in the Department of Teaching & Learning. Their primary function will be to work as a colleague with classroom teachers to support student learning and teacher practice to bridge the achievement gap and to address unfinished learning. The goal is to get students to grade-level academic standards and to provide additional academic assistance to students at risk of falling behind. The Coordinators will focus on individual and group professional learning that will expand and refine practitioner understanding of the district adopted curriculum and research-based effective instruction. In order to meet this purpose, they will provide personalized support based on the goals and identified needs of teachers and students. In other words, they will directly support teachers and students in the buildings by modeling lessons using the Gradual Release Model and other instructional best practices, assisting with lesson planning, locating resources for staff and students, and supporting teachers with understanding their data and next steps for instruction.
